The Window

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour a day to drain the fluids from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed next to the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed would live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the outside world. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake, the man had said. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Lovers walked arm in arm amid flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Unexpectedly, an alien thought entered his head: Why should he have all the pleasure of seeing everything while I never get to see anything? It didn't seem fair. As the thought fermented, the man felt ashamed at first. But as the days passed and he missed seeing more sights, his envy eroded into resentment and soon turned him sour. He began to brood and found himself unable to sleep. He should be by that window - and that thought now controlled his life.
Late one night, as he lay staring at the ceiling, the man by the window began to cough. He was choking on the fluid in his lungs. The other man watched in the dimly lit room as the struggling man by the window groped for the button to call for help. Listening from across the room, he never moved, never pushed his own button which would have brought the nurse running. In less than five minutes, the coughing and choking stopped, along with the sound of breathing. Now, there was only silence--deathly silence.
The following morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths. When she found the lifeless body of the man by the window, she was saddened and called the hospital attendant to take it away--no words, no fuss. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it all himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.
Moral of the story:
The pursuit of happiness is a matter of choice...it is a positive attitude we consciously choose to express. It is not a gift that gets delivered to our doorstep each morning, nor does it come through the window. And I am certain that our circumstances are just a small part of what makes us joyful. If we wait for them to get just right, we will never find lasting joy.

Story of Hell or Heaven after death

There was a man who had a strong belief as there should be something after everyone’s death either Hell or Heaven, so he was good to himself and to his surroundings. When time came for him to say Goodbye to the world he was brought before the GOD. He was very curious to know where he will be send. He asked GOD “Is there really a Hell & Heaven, if so where I will be send?” .On hearing it GOD gave a big smile and he gave him a Choice to choose, he showed two houses one on his right hand side & another on his left hand side and asked him to choose. On over curiosity he said he needs to look on both the houses & then only he will decide. He assumes those two houses as one to be hell & another to be heaven in his mind.
First he went to Hell house, it was really amazing neatly furnished, with lots and lots of different variety of food items & many people were around it. The thing he noted is all the food items are kept in separate gatherings in separate tables with one person on each table. But NO ONE IS EATING, no one is happy, no one is healthy everybody was weak in that house.
Secondly he went to heaven house, it was too really amazing neatly furnished with lots of food items & many people were around it. Here all the food items are placed in a common table and all the people are together eating, singing & enjoying. Everybody looked healthy & happy in that house.
This Guy came to the GOD as he was little confused since everything was same between the two houses but in one house people was weak , sad , no one was eating or chatting but in another people where happier , healthier , eating , chatting & enjoying together .He asked the reason to GOD. For that GOD replied.
Son, you have not clearly noticed them. All those people in both the houses were tied with a 4 feet spoon & fork to their hands. In One House, people are so selfish that they want to have those food themselves so they separated, discriminated & named even the tables as their property. They tried to intake those food themselves since they can’t they are not able to eat and they were weak.
But in the another house people loved each other , so they were together .They helped the person next to him to feed hence they were eating and they were healthy, happy & enjoying .

GOD said him that HELL & HEAVEN is not something which is away from Earth .Its only up to us how we behave with our surroundings either to make your place as HELL or HEAVEN .

Strength of Group Work

Once a US president went out to see the situation of the city. Somewhere a group of soldiers was trying to lift a large branch of a tree from their way.
The Corporal was standing by their side instructing them to work harder, but they were unable to move it.
A stranger was riding on his horse and he observed what was going on. He said to the Corporal – “if you help them they will be able to move it. Why don’t you help them? ”
The Corporal replied – “That is not my job, I am the Corporal. It is their work, they should do it.”
The stranger did not hesitate a moment, immediately he dismounted from his horse, and helped the group of the soldiers to move that log.
This additional strength helped them to move the log. After moving it, the stranger mounted his horse and said to the Corporal – “Next time you need to move some heavy thing and you need a help, call for the Commander-in Chief” and went away his way.
It was then that the men realized that the stranger was none other than George Washington – the first President of the United States, the Commander-in-Chief of the army.
“Only by binding together as a single force will we remain strong and unconquerable.”

Goals provide that Challenge

If there is power in your tomorrow there will be strength in your today. That powerful tomorrow is created by the power of the goals you set today.

The story goes … When it was still a common sight to see people travel in chariots pulled by horses, out there in a city, Joe was working in his fields. One day, as he was digging his soil out came oil. The poor, good-hearted farmer became a millionaire overnight. With prosperity flowing in, obviously, his lifestyle changed. He started wearing the best of clothing, he bought himself a villa, many people came to work for him and he also got himself a Rolls-Royce car. Externally though his lifestyle had completely changed, internally he still remained the good-hearted human being he always was. So, as he would travel in his Rolls-Royce through the town, he would wish whoever passed by his car. He will turn to his left and say, “Hi John! What’s up? And then to his right and enquire, “Hello Mary! How is your health?” And sometimes even completely turn around and continue his conversation, “Happy Morning Peter! It is long time since you came home. How about dinner this Saturday?” and while all these conservations were on, the car was still moving. Ironically, the car never met an accident. Wondering how? Oh, there were two horses that were pulling the car in front. Though Joe had become very rich and also bought himself the best automobile, he hadn’t learnt how to start the car. He didn’t know how to drive the powerful automobile. So, he continued to rely on the two horses that used to pull his chariot. Internally there were hundreds of horsepower sleeping inside the bonnet of that car-raring to go-wanting to be ignited, but Joe was still relying on the two external horsepower.

And this is not the story of just one Joe, but also the story of so many of us. Thousands of horsepower is sleeping inside each one of us-raring to go-wanting to be ignited… endowed with the seeds of greatness and engineered for very very big things in life. And, it is the power of our goals that will awaken the sleeping potential within each one of us and give it a direction. Goals are the accelerations of growth.
We have to realize.. What we get by achieving our goal is insignificant compared to what we will become in achieving our goal. When you go about achieving a goal, it is true that it gives you many things materialistically from assets to money to reputation to identity, but the person you get molded into the process of achieving the goal is most significant. We do not know what ‘we can’ until we are challenged.

Goals provide that challenge. The magnificence of goals is that it brings a lot of wonderful people and process together.

Facing adversity positively

There was man who used to live with his family and a dog. The dog had been with the family for quite a long time and had grown old. With age the family had slowly began to realize that the dog was becoming useless and they now required a new dog who could serve them better.

One day the man took his dog for a walk, the street was deserted and it was getting dark. Suddenly the dog fell into an old well and started howling for help. The man looked around him and found no help. Soon enough the man realized that the dog was not worth the trouble of saving. So instead of saving the he decided to bury the dog in the well and put him out of his misery.

The man found a shovel nearby, he used it to dig dirt and throw them into the well. Initially the dog started panicking and howling even more, but sooner he realized that it was of no use. Once the dog regained its calmness a thought suddenly struck him. If only he could use the situation to his advantage he would get out of the well safe. He realized that he has to just shake of the mud over him and step on the accumulated dirt to rise up slowly.

For the whole night the man shoved mud into the well and the dog just shook them and stood on a pile of dirt. Finally at dawn break when the whole of well was covered in mud, the old dog found himself out of the well safe. Seeing his brilliance the man burst into tears and hugged the old friend.

This is life and how we face our problem and deal with it positively. No matter how much worse the situation is, being calm and having a positive attitude will ensure that we emerge victorious.

Fruit of your Deeds

A young boy, travelled far from his home to study under a great teacher. When he met the wise old man, his first question was ‘How long will it take me before I am as wise as you?’
The response came swiftly, ‘Five years’.
‘This is a very long time’ the boy replied. ‘How about if I work twice as hard’?
‘Then it will take ten’, said the master
That’s far too long. How about if I studied all day and well into the night, every night’?
‘Fifteen years’ said the sage.
“I don’t understand” replied the boy. ‘Every time I promise to devote more energy to my goal, you tell me that it will take longer, why?’
‘The answer is simple. With one eye fixed on the destination, there is only one left to guide you along the journey’
‘Be patient and live with the knowledge that all you are searching for is certain to come if you prepare for it and expect it’
God resides in the heart of those who work without any expectation. He will only give you the fruit of your deeds.

The Cost of a Miracle

A little girl, Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet.
She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.
Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
'And what do you want?' the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages,' he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
'Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,' Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. 'He's really; really sick....and I want to buy a miracle.
''I beg your pardon?' said the pharmacist.
'His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?'
'We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you,' the pharmacist said, softening a little. 'Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.' The pharmacist's brother was a well-dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, 'What kind of a miracle does your brother need?'
'I don't know, 'Tess replied with her eyes welling up I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money.’
'How much do you have?' asked the man from Chicago.
'One dollar and eleven cents,’ Tess answered barely audible.
'And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.'
'Well, what a coincidence,' smiled the man. 'A dollar and eleven cents-the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.'
He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said 'Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need.'
That well-dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well.
Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.
'That surgery,' her Mom whispered. 'Was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost.'
Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost.....one dollar and eleven cents...plus the faith of a little child.

Be Deaf

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arrranged a running competition.
The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....
The race began....
Honestly: No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.
You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top."
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....
Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher....
The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....
But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....
This one wouldn't give up!
At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?
A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?
It turned out....
That the winner was DEAF !!!!
The wisdom of this story is: Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!
Always think of the power words have.
Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!
Therefore: ALWAYS be.... POSITIVE!
And above all:
Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dream!!!!!!

Mr.Wise

There lived two trees – Palm and Oak. It was a bright sunny day and the two friends started the day off by talking about their old memories.

Oak: In these 100 years of your life, what is the first thing that comes to your mind going down your memory lane?

Palm: Hmm... I can never forget Mr. Wise as I call him and the great lesson learnt from his life.

Oak: That is interesting. What is it?

Palm: Mr. Wise as I call him is a bee who used to collect honey from the flowers and save it in a comb built on one of my branches. As soon as the comb is full of honey, there will be a farmer who will be waiting for the bee to leave for the day‟s work and soon the honey comb will be vanished. This had become the habit of the farmer over a period of time wherein he will take away all the honey collected by the bee and he (the bee) will again start collecting the honey.

I was astonished at the way the bee reacted and asked him – “Aren‟t you tired and irritated of collecting honey with all your effort, and the benefits been taken away easily by the farmer always?” The bee smiled at me and replied – “The man can only steal honey but he can never take away the knowledge I have gained through collecting the best honey and the skill behind building a comb to preserve the honey, that‟s why he is after my comb however high my nest is.”

Oak: No wonder why you call him „Mr. Wise‟ now. What name can be more apt than „wise‟ for his sagacious act.

Moral: Sometimes, the benefits of your hard work may not be reaped, but the experience you possess can never be stolen by anyone. Never give up, keep going ahead!!
